An Apostille is an international certification used for documents going to countries that are part of the 1961 Hague Convention. It confirms that a New York public document is genuine and will be accepted abroad

 This is similar to an Apostille but used for countries NOT in the Hague Convention. Some countries may require an additional certification from the U.S. Department of State.

Common documents include:

• Birth, marriage, and death certificates
• Divorce certificates
• Educational records (diplomas, transcripts)
• Notarized documents (power of attorney, affidavits) 

4. How do I prepare school or university documents?

Your school must:

1. Issue the document or certify it as a true copy 
2. Have an authorized official sign it
3. Have that signature notarized   Then it must be certified by the County Clerk where the notary is commissioned.
